Monthly Meeting Annoucement
Program: Flashline MARS Arctic Research Station
by Jim Colletto, N6TQ Devon Island, as N6TQ/VY0
We are honored to have Jim Colletto, N6TQ talk about his operation from Devon Island (NA-009), Nunavut during the first two weeks of July 2025.
He and Matthias, KK7LJM were stationed at the Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station
(https://fmars.marssociety.org/).
They are members of the Advanced Team tasked with assessing, repairing, and readying the research station for the season ahead.
Jim has been an amateur for 50 years, after receiving his novice ticket as WB6ZHZ back in the 7th grade.
He currently operates from the same QTH (Tiburon) as he did as a kid, after buying the house he grew up in about 15 years ago.
Jim’s YL has a rule "only 4 ham antennas," which after 15 years, he finally is supporting (literally).
He has been fortunate enough to operate as DX on several occasions including:
- Botswana, as A25TQ (Sep 2014), while living on a game farm in the Lotsane region
- Heard Island, as part of the VK0EK team (Mar/Apr 2016)
- Devon Island, as N6TQ/VY0 (Jul 2025), while spinning up the Flashline MARS Arctic Research Station
