Monthly Meeting Annoucement
Program:
-- The Fundamentals of RF and Microwave Noise Figure Measurements
-- Field Day Wrap up
by Bart Schrijver, KK6BC

Our own Bart will present on some of his current work related to Amateur Radio. Noise figure is an important 'metric' of receiver performance. Learn how this applies to our station's overall capability.

Bart Schrijver was born and raised in the Netherlands and earned an equivalent to a US bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering (1987). After finishing college, he had to serve his compulsory duty of 14 months in the Dutch army after which he got his first job in Orange California and subsequently emigrated to the US and moved to Irvine CA in January of 1989.

Bart worked for 6 ½ years at Driessen Aircraft Interior Systems as a regulatory compliance engineer dealing with FAA FAR 25 certification requirements for aircraft interior components. In 1995 he moved to Santa Rosa, CA and worked for 1½ years at a startup company that had a contract with the DOE dealing with an experimental environmental cleanup systems using very high energy microwave radiation at 2.54 Ghz at ~ 500 kW. This company folded in May of 1997 and Bart subsequently got an engineering job at the HP Santa Rosa site.

He has been with HP/Agilent Technologies/Keysight Technologies ever since and is currently the lead metrology engineer for the Keysight Santa Rosa standards lab handling all matters related to RF and microwave calibration engineering for their product portfolio, which involves network analyzer calibration kits, power sensors, noise sources and attenuation measurements. Besides working full time at Keysight Technologies Bart is also a qualified lead assessor for American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) performing ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation assessments parttime. He holds an US amateur extra class radio operator license with the call sign KK6BC and is a member of the Redwood Empire DX Association.
